- Amtrak is considering expanding its Hiawatha route, which saw record ridership in July. The plan would increase daily trips to Chicago from seven to 10, including some express trains that would skip all stops in between Milwaukee and Chicago and decrease ride time 11 minutes.
- A wildfire has been raging in Idaho for 12 days, despite a massive effort over the weekend. So far, the fire has caused the evacuation of more than 2,000 homes.
