MUSIC NOTES SHOW OF THE WEEK
Tuesday, Sept. 3: Mumford & Sons with The Vaccines, and Bear’s Den at Marcus Amphitheater, 6 p.m. ($30-$50)
British folk force Mumford & Sons first came to worldwide consciousness with 2009’s Sign No More, which featured hit singles “Little Lion Man” and “The Cave.” The Grammy-winning quartet showed its harmony-laden efforts weren’t short-lived with critically-lauded follow-up, Babel. Wednesday, Sept. 4: Kane Place Record Club at Denim Park, 6:30 p.m. (FREE)
Kane Place Record Club will be playing its second show in a five-day span in accordance with the release of its funky self-titled album in one of the final Denim Park concerts of the summer. (1551 N. Water St)

Thursday, Sept. 5: The Delta Routine with Semi-Twang, and Myles Coyne & The Rusty Nickel Band at Hotel Foster, 9 p.m. ($7)
Milwaukee garage rock outfit The Delta Routine has been on the receiving end of its fair share of good local fortune. The perennial WAMI nominee is a mainstay on the main stage of numerous Milwaukee festivals. Hell, the band even serves as the audio accompaniment for Packers and Brewers tailgating-themed TV commercials. Though things seem to be going better for The Delta Routine with each year, that undeniable local success is deserved. While it’s not without its issues, the band’s latest – 2012’s Cigarettes & Caffeine Nightmares – is flush with hooks, catchy guitar licks and toe-tapping bluesy goodness. Friday, Sept. 6: The Fatty Acids with Sat. Nite Duets, and Faux Fir at Pabst Theater, 7 p.m. ($10)
When we last checked in with The Fatty Acids, Milwaukee’s premier purveyors of scramble pop were hole up in a Riverwest basement, hard at work on a third album. Friday, the Fatties will finally unveil, Boléro, its latest and all-around best work to date in an unforgettable Pabst Theater show that will feature green screen suits, wind-dancers and openers Faux Fir (also releasing a cassette) and Sat. Saturday, Sept. 7: Yellow Phone Music Conference
Yellow Phone Music Conference is an annual merger of great local bands, music industry professionals, and talented touring artists hailing from various parts of the U.S., Canada and the U.K. The four-day conference features panel discussions, mentoring sessions and, best of all, a bunch of live performances at The Irish Pub, Spin, Fire On Water, Milwaukee Ale House and Translator VIP Lounge. This year, acts such as Vic and Gab, The Delta Routine, The Championship, Kiings, Jayk, I’m Not A Pilot, MODOC, Poor Young Things, and Aktar Aktar. If you want tips on getting into the music industry, want a leg up on getting your band a record deal or simply wish to watch some great bands, Yellow Phone Music Conference is for you. Sunday, Sept. 8: Zappa Plays Zappa at Pabst Theater, 7 p.m. ($35-$65)
Sadly, Frank Zappa is no longer with us. However, the groundbreaking musician’s incomparable music lives on through his son. On the 40th anniversary of the elder Zappa releasing Roxy & Elsewhere, Dweezil Zappa will play the album in its entirety. (144 E. Wells St., PabstTheater.org)
