INdustri Transitions
In Walker’s Point, in the shadow of the in-utero Clock Shadow Building is INdustri Café, a restaurant devoted to supporting things local – from the ingredients on the menus to the art hanging on the Cream City brick walls. Owners Robert Klemm and Chris Miller have been on this track since opening the place just over a year ago. Over the course of time, Klemm says they’ve become aware that the interior arrangement of the space – the dining room and bar – is not as efficiently setup as they’d like it to be. So, very soon, the team from Milwaukee’s Flux Design will be in to install an artfully designed window wall that turns the dining room into two dining spaces – a private dining room and what will function as the main dining area. Using further design ingenuity, the Flux team will also give the bar more of a separate feel from the dining room. This masterful task will be completed, Klemm says, in one day. On the food side of things, INdustri is close to switching over to its spring menu, whose format will make a fairly large departure from previous versions. There will be a core menu of 13-15 small plates (most of them under $10), about 5 burgers, one or more sandwiches, and some sides. For each meal – lunch, brunch, dinner – diners will have more items to choose from. The dinner menu, for instance, will feature six to eight large plates, beyond offering the core menu. Klemm hopes to roll out the spring menu around the same time as the remodel – tentatively, mid-April. (524 S. Second St., 414-224-7777)
