9 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: March 30-April 3

Another big beer week includes beer releases, tap takeovers and some cleaning up of the Milwaukee River.

Wednesday, March 30

Belching Beaver Brewery is making a trip to Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.). The tap takeover starts at 4 p.m. and includes a couple of barrel-aged beers and an IPA or two.

Thursday, March 31

Ladies Night at New Barons Brewing Co-op (2018 S. 1st St.) means $1 off of a few beers either inspired or created by the co-op’s women member-owners. The beers are Witches Bit Belgian Witbier, All Work and No Play West Coast IPA and It’s 5 .m. Somewhere Coffee Stout.

Friday, April 1

There’s a double release party happening at Third Space Brewing (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.) that includes music, a food truck and beer, of course. The two releases are Java Blanca Coffee Cream Ale and Cool Kids, a collaboration with Lion’s Tail Brewing.

The weekly release at 1840 Brewing Company (342 E. Ward St.) is Lex Lutra, a pale lager brewed with Norwegian yeast. Presale is at 9 a.m. and pickup begins at 3 p.m. Try it on tap on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Saturday, April 2

Lakefront Mania II is coming to The Drunk Uncle (1902 S. 68th St.). The bar is tapping 36, yup 36, beers from Lakefront Brewery. Expect some rarities in a lineup celebrating a Milwaukee brewing institution.

Three distinctly different IPAs are being released at The Fermentorium (7481 State Rd. 60, Cedarburg) at noon. Pick up Juicier Packets DIPA, Hazelnut Breakfast in America Coffee IPA and Tank 8 Feeding the Void DIPA.

The Milwaukee River Cleanup is happening at noon. Pick one of six area breweries involved as your starting point—Amorphic Beer (3700 N. Fratney St.), Black Husky Brewing (909 E. Locust St.), Company Brewing (735 E. Center St.), Gathering Place Brewing Company (811 E. Vienna St.), Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) and Sprecher Brewery (701 E. Glendale Ave.). You’ll be rewarded for picking up litter along the riverfront with coupons for a free pint at each brewery.

Remember those beer drive-thru’s during the worst days of the pandemic? New Barons Brewing Co-op does, and they’re pouring a Drive-Thru Belgian Dubbel to commemorate the successful events. Get there at 1 p.m. to try some.

Sunday, April 3

If you like saisons, you need to get to Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) at 3 p.m. Several area breweries were asked to brew a beer similar to Saison DuPont’s Avril Saison and the results will be pouring on Sunday. For $20 you can sample all seven and vote for your favorite.
