Back in 2020, as an addendum to our “Best Burgers” feature, we asked our readers to pick their very favorite in a college basketball-style bracket. It was a battle, to say the least, with the Nite Owl Drive-In’s double cheeseburger reigning supreme.
The one drawback to Nite Owl (well, there’s another but I’ll get to that in a moment) is that it’s a seasonal business. Open from early spring to late fall. What this time of year means is – yay! – the Nite Owl (830 E. Layton Ave.) is back.
A call over to the friendly Owl folks confirmed they are back to slinging burgers, starting at 11 a.m. until around 2 or 3 p.m. That’s the other drawback I alluded to. They run out of meat, and often by mid-afternoon, so they close! But that just means your burger is really fresh.
All that pent-up burger demand means Nite Owl will be especially busy right now. So get there early and – if you can – often.
