3 Critic-Approved Shows to Watch This Fall

Looking for something new to watch? These are our top three picks for the season.

WE’RE WAITING with bated breath for more information on Wisconsin native John Ridley’s new TV show, which is slated to take place in Milwaukee but still hasn’t received a premiere date. In the meantime, we’ll content ourselves with these three critic-approved fall shows.

1. “Big Sky”

ON ABC, TUESDAYS AT 9 P.M.

The creator of HBO’s “Big Little Lies” is bringing us a gritty police procedural about two private detectives who join up with a disgraced ex-cop tracking two sisters who’ve been kidnapped. The plot zigs and zags, as they speed down lonesome Montana highways looking for the girls.

2. “B Positive”

ON CBS, THURSDAYS AT 7:30 P.M.

If you’re still crying over the end of “Silicon Valley,” dry those tears. Because Thomas Middleditch is back, as the star of a new sitcom created by Chuck Lorre, the man behind “The Big Bang Theory” and “Two and a Half Men.” Middleditch plays a divorced dad in need of a new kidney (and a new lease on life). It looks like maybe he’ll find both when he reconnects with a former acquaintance.

3. “Filthy Rich”

ON FOX, TUESDAYS AT 8 P.M.

Kim Cattrall plays the wife of a recently deceased Southern televangelist who finds out that her dead husband had fathered no less than three illegitimate children, and that they’ve all been written into his will. We’re expecting major melodrama and majorly gravity-defying hairstyles from this delightfully soapy show.
