17 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: Sept. 2-7

Are you ready for Oktoberfest celebrations to start? This week begins an invasion of gemüchlikeit, with a slew of German-inspired parties around the Milwaukee area.

Tuesday, Sept. 2

Busby’s (3475 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) recently tapped a barrel of the delicious Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale. All proceeds from pours of Dale’s benefit the clean up of Wauwatosa Curling Club, whose clubhouse along the Menomonee River in Hart Park was damaged during the flooding last month.

Thursday, Sept. 4

Walters’ on North (6930 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa) is the site of the release party for My Turn Opis, a Vienna lager that’s the latest in the series of employee-designed beers from Lakefront Brewery. The fun starts at 6 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 5

Bavarian Bierhaus (700 W. Lexington Blvd., Glendale) doesn’t mess around when it comes to Oktoberfest. A monthlong celebration kicks off on Friday and runs through Oct. 5. Hours are 4 to 11 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays. Check out the event page for details and to reserve a table.

While it’s not a beer-specific event, plenty of beer will be flowing over the weekend at Steny’s 40th Anniversary Block Party. The legendary tavern is taking over the corner of Second Street and National Avenue on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The epic party will include food trucks, live music and even a raffle for a Harley.

Torzala Brewing Co. is pouring at the Whitefish Bay Beer Garden at Klode Park (5960 N. Lake Dr.) from 4 to 9 p.m.

Sample beers from Superior’s Earth Rider Brewery at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 2 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 6

Layman Brewing (6001 W. Madison St., West Allis) is hosting a Beer Garden Bash to celebrate its fifth anniversary from 2 to 8 p.m. There will be a pig roast, which begins at 5 p.m., music and plenty of beer.

The annual Ervtoberfest is happening at Erv’s Mug (130 W. Ryan Rd., Oak Creek) from 5 to 9 p.m. It means plenty of seasonal beer and a German-style buffet. Tickets are just $50.

Eagle Park Brewing (S64 W15640, Commerce Center Pkwy., Muskego) throws its Oktoberfest party from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be beer chugging and stein hoisting competitions, and plenty of family-friendly fun too.

Third Space Brewing is having its Oktoberfest at its Innovation Brewhouse (N71 W13040 Suite 100 W. Appleton Ave., Menomonee Falls) from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. They’ll be releasing Brezelbrau Dunkel Lager, a beer made with soft pretzels from Milwaukee Pretzel Co.

Oktoberfest is also happening at 3 Sheeps Brewing (1837 North Ave., Sheboygan) from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Stein holding contests are at 2 and 4 p.m.

They’re tapping a wooden keg of Hofbräu Oktoberfest at the Estabrook Park Beer Garden (4600 Estabrook Dr.) at noon, and its contents are free until it runs dry. They’ll have live German music playing to add to the festivities.

The Tour de Taps follows the Oak Leaf Trail. The bike ride starts at Kegel’s War Memorial Beer Garden (750 N. Lincoln Memorial Dr.) at 11 a.m., stops at the Estabrook Park Beer Garden, and ends at the Original Brown Deer Beer Garden (8725 N. Deerwood Dr.). A post-ride party begins at 4 p.m. in Brown Deer. The event costs $25 and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Chris Kegel Foundation.

There’s a block party happening at Urban Harvest Brewing Co. (1024 S. Fifth St.). It starts at 1 p.m. and includes the release of Full Stack Imperial Maple Brown.

Discount Liquor Milwaukee offers German beer samples from Giesinger and Hofbräuhaus from 3 to 6 p.m. You can also try samples from Giesinger at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow Ave.) from 1 to 3 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 7

The Tap Yard – Waukesha (1927 E. Sunset Dr.) is the site of the inaugural Burger Food Truck Fest. The event is just what the name suggests, and six food trucks will be there slinging burgers.

Friday, Sept. 19: Raised Grain Brewing kicks off a two-day 10th anniversary celebration that includes some amazing beer releases.

Thursday, Sept. 25: The Yelp Beer Hunt comes to the Brewhouse Inn and Suites (1215 N. 10th St.). The evening includes a scavenger hunt involving several local breweries and a party at OnTap Bar and Restaurant. The event is free but an RSVP is required.

Thursday, Oct. 2: Tour the Milwaukee County Zoo (10001 W. Bluemound Ave.) with a beer in your hand during Zoo Brew.

Friday, Oct. 3: Milwaukee Oktoberfest takes place at the Henry Maier Festival Park (200 N. Harbor Dr.) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
