1. SLUSH: The Debut Collection from Yosh Yorner 

FRIDAY FROM 6-8 P.M. | MARN ART + CULTURE HUB 

Milwaukee designer Yosh Yorner is hosting his first gallery-style fashion show to share his debut collection. Music and signature cocktails will accompnay the show, which features themes of industrialization and isolation, inspired by frigid Milwaukee winters.

2. Shaken & Stirred: A Great Lakes Distillery Experience 

FRIDAY FROM 8-10 P.M. | GREAT LAKES DISTILLERY 

Great Lakes Distillery may just fulfill the new year’s resolution of a party host or two this year, with its biweekly experience for home mixologists. Learn about the history behind classic cocktails, while you mix them for your own enjoyment. Book your spot online

3. Steely Dane 

FRIDAY AT 8 P.M. | PABST THEATER 

Join 15 of Dane County’s jazz and rock musicians in reminiscing on the memories that correspond to the sounds of Steely Dan. With a similar ensemble to the touring band, the award-winning cover band’s live-show experience might just get you up out of your seats. 

4. RAM Staff Selects: A Community-Curated Exhibition 

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY | RACINE ART MUSEUM 

Visit the Racine Art Museum on one or both of this exhibition’s final days to observe selections from a rare curatorial process. To acknowledge staff, board and volunteer roles, individuals’ voices were heard in their decisions for displayed works in the museum’s Twentieth Anniversary exhibition. You can see Wendell Castle’s silver leaf-topped desk, Mark Newport’s embroidered comic book cover and more for a $10 admission. Admission for students and seniors is $8. 

5. Goblin King Masquerade Ball 

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY | TURNER HALL BALLROOM 

Awkward Nerd Events is requiring guests to arrive in formal and cosplay attire to enjoy an evening of cocktails, mocktails, curated vendors, photo ops, special performances and a waltz dance class. Tickets for Friday’s pride night and Saturday’s dance magic night start at $35 for general admission, $45 for early admission and $75 for a VIP package.

6. Funny Girl

Catch the iconic musical comedy before the cast and crew head north! With a 7:30 p.m. showtime on Friday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. showtimes on Saturday, and 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. showtimes on Sunday, there are plenty of opportunities to escape the cold and indulge in Fanny Brice’s bittersweet story to empower the start of your year. 

7. Port Washington Health and Wellness Fair 

SATURDAY FROM 10 A.M.-2 P.M. | 435 N. LAKE ST. 

Looking for new ways to improve your quality of life? This free public event at Inventors Brewpub gives attendees the opportunity to speak with experts and enthusiasts about all things health and wellness.  

8. Winter Wonder Hike 

SATURDAY FROM 1-3 P.M. | 4023 W. GALENA ST. 

Those snow boots are made for walkin’, and that’s just what they’ll do on the Urban Ecology Center’s Winter Wonder Hike. Anyone 5 years or older is welcome to explore trail routes and ice safety on the lagoon. Heat sources will be provided via hot cocoa and tea.  

9. Adem Tesfaye 

SATURDAY AT 8 P.M. | ANODYNE COFFEE ROASTING CO. 

Sit in on stories told by the songs of Adem Tesfaye at Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. on Saturday evening. Pay $10 in advance or $15 at the door to hear music inspired by Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr and The Roots. 

10. Forest Therapy 

SUNDAY FROM 1-3 P.M. | 5637 ERIE ST. 

Brave the weekend’s falling temperatures on a walk through the woods and lakefront of the Siena grounds to discover the therapeutic impact of forest therapy. This science-based experience is derived from the Japanese practice of “forest bathing” and aims to strengthen relationships between people and nature. The $25 experience allows time for historical explanations, personal reflection and community building. 

11. Mocktails: A Non-Alcoholic Evening 

SUNDAY FROM 6:30-9:30 P.M. | 777 N. VAN BUREN ST. 

Lupi & Iris is hosting a five-course dinner with non-alcoholic beverage pairings for those participating in Dry January, sober folks and anyone curious in spirit free drinking. The event is $95 per person.

SUNDAY AT 8 P.M. | TURNER HALL BALLROOM 

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the creators of “the hip-hop blues,” G. Love and Special Sauce, following the release of the remastered and expanded version of their self-titled debut album on Jan. 12. General admission is $35. 

13. 40th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration 

MONDAY AT 4 P.M. | MARCUS CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS 

Join the community’s youth in celebrating Dr. King’s birthday at this free event that congratulates winners of interpretive student contests. The presentation will begin at 4 p.m. in Uihlein Hall, followed by a concert featuring Anthony McGahee and Praise Motivated Choir. 

14. SOMETHING TO SAY Poetry Slam and Intergenerational Panel 

MONDAY FROM 6-8 P.M. | CEDARBURG CULTURAL CENTER 

Listen and contribute your voice to poetry and conversation, honoring the themes within the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. The Cedarburg Diversity Committee encourages the public to arrive at its free event with stories and passion.
