WMSE 91.7, the community-supported radio station known for its eclectic programming and big bashes like the Backyard BBQ, is bringing back its annual Art & Music event on Feb. 7 from 6-10 p.m. at the historic Pritzlaff Building.
The annual family-friendly fundraiser for the station pairs over 200 album-sized artworks by local artists with live music from WMSE DJ BTS.wrking and Milwaukee chamber rock trio Nineteen Thirteen. Guests will also be able to enjoy food, drink and other entertainment.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
“This event brings together art lovers and music enthusiasts in a way that’s uniquely Milwaukee,” said station manager Tom Crawford in a press release. “We’re proud to host such a dynamic and meaningful celebration.”
For the event, featured artists are creating distinct works without instruction on a 12-by-12-inch birchwood board – a freeform prompt meant to reflect the station’s anything-goes ethos. The resulting pieces up for auction online starting Jan. 31 and ending Feb. 7 at 10 p.m. Participating artists include Nova Czarnecki, John Kowalczyk, Dara Larson, Matthew Gramling, Francisco Ramirez, Von Munz, and more.
On the music side, along with a performance from Nineteen Thirteen, BTS.wrking’s curated setlist for the evening will include “emotional and rare experimental music.”
Officially founded in 1981 and community-funded since 1997, WMSE 91.7 follows a 24-hour format focused on giving airtime to all kinds of music not heard on typical radio stations, as well as local artists.
“Art & Music will be an event to remember, featuring exceptional musicians, artists, and community leaders,” Crawford says. “It is a night that not only celebrates creativity but also deepens the connections within our community, ensuring that Milwaukee’s artistic culture remains vibrant and enduring.”
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available at WMSE’s website.
