On May 14, volunteers around Milwaukee will form teams with the goal of cleaning up 10 city blocks each. So far, says Theron Rogers, 11 teams of 10 people each have committed to cleaning 110 city blocks for what is being called Milwaukee’s Cleanest Day Ever. “The original idea was to get a group together and clean a neighborhood that we had all once been a part of,” he says. Especially after “the winter melt took place and revealed all the hidden trash and debris.”
One of the organizing groups, Young Enterprising Society, even made a little video to celebrate.
The details, via Theron:
“Each team of 10 will gather in an area/neighborhood of the city of their choosing. The team will commit to cleaning at least 10 blocks collecting as much trash and debris as possible. The cleaning supplies will be provided to them. Every team member will also receive a Cleanest Day Ever T-shirt to wear that day.”
And afterwards, volunteers will be rewarded with free music, food and fun at Sherman Park. The groups organizing this one-day speed clean include IAMBK (I Am My Brother’s Keeper), Young Enterprising Society, Fly Philanthropy, and a group called Women’s Movement.
