The possibilities are endless. That’s the mindset that Vennture – the Washington Heights shop normally associated with beer and coffee – applies to the slushie, that sugary crushed ice drink popularized by Dairy Queen.
Vennture takes many of its grownup drinks and presents them in slushified guises: the “Bomb Pop” hard seltzer shown here, house-roasted cold brew latte, and fruited versions of its tart Bruv series of Berliner weissbiers. Previous add-ins and flavors have included soft-serve and marshmallow. “We just did Pineapple Lime Tajín Bruv with rum rimmed with Tajín and a wheel of lime on the glass and it was fantastic,” says co-owner Simon McConico.
Now licensed to serve wine and liquor, Vennture plans to stretch the limits of its slushie machine even further this summer. The strawberry margarita they’ve done with hard seltzer, for example, now has tequila. Keep up with the often-changing flavors and varieties on Instagram.
