Try This New Drink from Lost Whale: “No! Such is Mango!”

This whimsical sipper was inspired by an “SNL” skit.

It’s not surprising that the lads from Bay View’s Lost Whale would find stimulus in a “Saturday Night Live” skit. They make even standards unconventional. This new arrival, which they’ve named “No! Such Is Mango!” celebrates seasonal transitions by merging winter citrus, spring tropical fruit and notes herbal, acidic, bitter and sweet. The potion, anchored in a footed pilsner glass, laces together two kinds of gin (Seville orange flavor in one of them), fresh lemon juice, house-made mango/basil syrup, aperol and bitters, and, as vital as the drink itself, a garnish of Thai basil, mango chile gummy and grated macadamia nut. Now, about that “SNL” skit. Mango was the name of a certain character, a male exotic dancer who put spectators under his spell with his, let’s call it unique, performance art. This drink is as singular as its namesake.
