This Bites: The Love Shack, Cold-brew Coffee and More

There’s a new restaurant “spamming” the Third Ward.

This Bites, which runs every Friday at 8 a.m. on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, has a lot to cover this week. DJ Tarik Moody and I kick off the segment with my cold-brew coffee bracket from the July 2017 issue of Milwaukee Magazine. In it, I pitted eight local coffeehouses’ cold brews against each other in a NCAA tourney-style bracket. The competition was stiff – there’s a lot of good cold brew available in MKE, but there was also only one winner.

A couple of new businesses – Polynesian restaurant The Love Shack, and Tosa’s Village Cheese Shop inspired lively conversations about Spam and artisan-style cheeses, respectively. In upcoming events, we talk about Tapas and Taps on July 13 at Three Lions Pub and Black Husky beer dinner on July 18 at Merriment Social.

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
