This Bites: Behind ‘Eat Like a Wisconsinite’

We chat about the foods that put Wisconsin on the map.

Ahh, Friday’s long-awaited return. That means another edition of This Bites (Fridays, 8 a.m., on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee). Our main topic of convo is Mil Mag’s March cover story, “Eat Like a Wisconsinite,” which is a culinary guide to the foods (and drinks) that put our state on the map. Think fish fries, brats, kringle, cheese curds, the Wisconsin old fashioned and so on.

Also, a few events coming up deserve talking about. First, chefs Dan Jacobs and Dan Van Rite of DanDan Restaurant are hosting their second Dim Sum + Give Some event (a fundraiser for the Kennedy’s Disease Association) on March 25 at the Italian Community Center. The event features cocktails, beer and foods from 30 restaurants. Jacobs was diagnosed with the disease in 2016. Buy tickets here.

Also, Tarik offers the run-down on a History of Rum Cocktail Class coming up March 8 at Great Lakes Distillery.
