The Third Ward’s small plate emporium Swig (217 N. Broadway) is closing after brunch service on Sunday, Oct. 14.
In business since 2004, the restaurant is one of several operated by Hospitality Democracy that are also located in the Ward (e.g., Smoke Shack, Holey Moley Doughnuts and Blue Bat Kitchen & Tequilaria, which replaced Water Buffalo). Swig’s next-door sibling, the Italian-focused Onesto, plans to roll out an “unparalleled” brunch “experience” in November, per the company’s press release. No details yet on the menu but it is expected to highlight Onesto’s focus on handmade ingredients.
As for Swig, business will carry on as usual until the 14th, including happy hour, Mon-Fri 3-6 p.m. It features $2 mystery beers, $3 select local bottled beers, $4 house-infusion mixed drinks, $5 select glass wine and 5-buck house-made sangria. Swig’s hours: Mon-Fri 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sat 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sun 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Last May, co-founders Joe and Angie Sorge announced their departure from Hospitality Democracy, which is part of Marcus Investments, to start a restaurant consulting business.
