Go to the zoo, take dad out to eat and more ideas for Father’s Day this year.

The fathers (and father figures) in your life deserves a special treat, whether it’s picking up the brunch or dinner tab, or creating a shared experience at an outdoor attraction (such as a car show or the Milwaukee County Zoo), or learning a new skill together. If you’re stuck on making Father’s Day plans, here are some ideas in the Milwaukee area. Be sure to make a reservation if going to a restaurant as tables do fill up. This year, Father’s Day is on Sunday, June 15.

Take Dad Out to Eat

1. Bass Bay Brewhouse

An all-day Father’s Day buffet will be served between 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., spanning breakfast items, BBQ entrees, several side dishes and desserts. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., this feast is paired with live music by Jake Williams, Sons of Sconnie’s frontman and keyboardist, on the patio.

2. BJ Wentker’s Historic Fine Dining

230 MILWAUKEE AVE., BURLINGTON

Starting at noon on Father’s Day, the brunch menu ($56 per adult, $20 per child ages 5 to 12) will be available. This includes three appetizers (such as shrimp cocktail) and six dishes served family style (such as BBQ baby-back ribs and build-your-own omelets), as well as assorted pastries and sweets.

3. Joey Gerard’s – A Bartolotta Supper Club

5601 BROAD ST., GREENDALE

In addition to its regular dinner menu, there are two specials on Father’s Day served between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.: Chilean sea bass and a 24-ounce porterhouse steak. Also available is a Father’s Day Bourbon Flight ($45 per person), featuring four 0.75-ounce pours of different bourbons.

4. Lake Lawn Resort

2400 E. GENEVA ST., DELAVAN

This resort along Delavan Lake is hosting a Father’s Day BBQ Cookout ($53 per adult, $21 per child ages 4 to 12) between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. It includes a grill station (flank steak, chicken, St. Louis style baby back ribs, red snapper and Italian sausage), several salads, grilled breads, desserts and non-alcoholic beverages. There’s also a cash bar.

5. Lupi & Iris

777 N. VAN BUREN ST.

Just as this fine-dining restaurant’s menu channels the French and Italian Rivieras, the same is true with its Father’s Day Jazz brunch menu, with items like croissants, wood-grilled Atlantic swordfish, cacio e pepe and French toast topped with berries served between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Pianist/vocalist Anthony Deutsch will perform between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the bar area.

6. The Bavarian Bierhaus

700 W. LEXINGTON BLVD., GLENDALE

This German-style beer hall and restaurant is throwing a Father’s Day pig roast in its Heidelberg Park, with live German-style polka music by Alte Kameraden between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and pig and chicken roast served all day. Dads get a free full liter of beer.

7. Thunder Bay Grille

Available between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., this restaurant’s Father’s Day brunch menu ($30 per adult, $15 for kids ages 6 to 12) packs in all the goods, from an omelet station to desserts and pastries. There’s also a salad station, egg dishes, waffles, fried chicken, smoked ribs, cod, jambalaya, shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon, and mac and cheese. Dads receive a free domestic beer.

Visit any of Stone Creek Coffee’s locations (Whitefish Bay, Milwaukee, Glendale, Shorewood, Delafield, Oconomowoc and Wauwatosa) on Father’s Day when dads receive a free 12-ounce cup of drip coffee.

On Father’s Day, this art studio is hosting a candle-pouring experience ($45 per person) at noon, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. where you learn to make your own candle. By picking out a vessel, scents and color, the final product is completely unique—you can even give it a name.

10. Hot Rods & Heroes Car Show

SUNDAY, JUNE 15 | 8900 S. 27TH ST., OAK CREEK

If Dad’s really into cars, then this car show will make his day. It’s hosted at Route 41 Bar & Grill. Food and drink specials, along with merchandise raffles and an award ceremony at 2 p.m., build out the event.

11. Milwaukee County Zoo

On Father’s Day, Dads and Grandfathers earn free admission. The zoo is open between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
