The table-tennis emporium is leaving the Third Ward for a three-level hacienda on Old World Third Street.

Evolution Gastro-Pong, currently at 233 E. Chicago St. in the Third Ward, is moving to Old World Third Street this fall. It will occupy the former Irish Rec Room (1023 N. Old World Third St.), a space that will undergo extensive renovation. The Third Street property has three stories, including a rooftop space. Evolution will continue to operate in the Ward until August 31. As for that mega-building on Third Street, the street level will have a concept of its own that focuses on dining (lunch and dinner service), plus a beer, cocktail and specialty drink program. The ground level will also have its own name, to be announced in July.

Behind the scenes, there are changes as well. Evolution’s owners have partnered up with the crew that runs Trocadero, Red Lion Pub, Red Rock Saloon and McGillycuddy’s. To further clarify – or perhaps confuse – Evolution Gastro-Pong is the former Spin Milwaukee table tennis and social club. The name change happened in early 2014, when the business broke ties with the Spin Galactic franchise.
