Since Bay View’s Palomino closed in July, the bar-resto has hosted a rummage sale (of restaurant and kitchen wares) and… kept us all wondering when they’d open those doors again. Well, it’s happening. This Friday the lights will be back on at this popular emporium (2461 S. Superior St.), but things won’t go completely back to normal quite yet.
For now the food menu will be limited to bar snacks. Co-owner Val Lucks isn’t sharing that menu but says for sure you’ll be able to nibble house pimento cheese, crackers and pickles along with your, as the bar’s tagline reads, cold beer and hot whiskey.

There’s at least one night in the near future when you can get a meal at Palomino – Sept. 15th’s Bourbon Dinner with Barrell Craft Spirits. The meal pairs four bourbons with four courses. The menu features house chips with blue cheese dip; cornbread with apple butter; panzanella salad with seasonal veg; pan-seared pheasant with Three Sisters’ chutney and root veg. purée; and bourbon-soaked apple cake with cinnamon whip by Honeypie Bakeshop. Tickets are $85 and the event runs 6:30-9:30 p.m. Click here to buy tickets.
Palomino’s fall/winter hours: Fri-Sat 5 p.m.-midnight; Sun 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. (with hours adjusted when the Packers play a Sunday night game)
