Not only starstruck for each other, Frankie De La Cruz Nightingale and Carver De La Cruz Nightingale also share a love for astronomy. For their wedding, they adopted a celestial theme.
“Our energies matched really well,” says Carver, after meeting on the HER dating app. “I proposed to Frankie on a beach [while] stargazing at Seven Bridges. [Frankie] also had an engagement ring on them, and they’re like ‘No, actually, will you marry me?’ We’ve always loved stargazing and felt like the moon was very special to us.”

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
Frankie’s engagement ring is a moonstone flanked by crescent moons. “Overall, we wanted a big sort of out-of-control slumber party,” explains Carver about their wedding at Glacier Hills County Park in Hubertus, where some guests stayed overnight in cabins. Press Waffles in Milwaukee catered the food from its vintage trailer, rounding out the camping vibe.
To build out the celestial theme, the couple relied on “lots of moons and stars and candlelight,” says Carver, “and dark blues and gold to emphasize the stars [plus] deep greens and gold.” Wedding invites featuring stars set the tone.

Each member of their wedding party received a crystal linked to their astrological sign, to help guide them through the event, and bandanas embroidered with their name, to go with the camping theme.
Frankie paired both the reception and wedding dresses – similar in style, the reception dress was shorter – with a star-studded, glittery cape, while Carver wore the Bay View dress from Miss Ruby Bridal’s Milwaukee Collection.

“It popped out to me because of the colors and the embroidery,” says Carver. “I do embroidery and was taken aback by how much love was put into this.”
There was only one mishap, but it proved to be funny and heartwarming.
“At the reception, I dislocated my knee,” says Carver. The DJ had a knee brace he loaned the bride. “He also played ‘Threw It on the Ground’ [by the Lonely Island] when it happened. It allowed me to keep the party going.”

“We wanted people to be themselves and feel comfortable and also have fun. We got a lot of compliments from people who felt like they could be themselves,” says Carver.
