Potawatomi to Open a New Sportsbook and Poker Room in May

It’s the last portion of the casino’s $190 million renovation project.

Potawatomi Casino Hotel has announced that its Las Vegas-style sportsbook and 14-table poker room will formally open on May 3.

Located in the first-level space formerly occupied by the Northern Lights Theater, construction of both venues began in September as part of the final stage of the casino’s $190 million renovation project. The latest portion of the project began following the Northern Lights Theater’s closing in January 2023 as Potawatomi made a move into sports gaming.

“We are excited to bring the next level of an entertaining sports betting atmosphere to our guests,” Potawatomi Casino Hotel CEO Dominic Ortiz said. “We appreciate the patience our guests have given us while we build out these two extraordinary projects. I can assure them it will be well worth the wait.”

The 6,500-square-foot sportsbook will consist of two floors, a 2,000-square-foot LED screen, broadcast booth with professional quality three-camera system, more than 20 televisions in sizes up to 98 inches and seating for more than 200 patrons. Kiosks and ticket writers will be available for all casino guests.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

“There is not a retail betting space outside of Las Vegas that can compete with the high-end venue we’re unveiling,” sportsbook director Sean Cullen said. “With the 75 kiosks we currently have, we are No. 2 in the country for gross gaming revenue of publicly reporting sportsbooks. We believe our new retail sports betting venue will make us a top travel destination in the Midwest.”

The sportsbook will offer food and have nearly 50 beers on tap, including Dealers Choice Potawatomi Pilsner through a collaboration with Milwaukee’s City Lights Brewing Co.

The poker room will feature a variety of games including 1-3 No Limit, 2-5 No Limit and Pot Limit Omaha along with promotions such as hourly high hand jackpots and bad beat jackpots. The poker Room will utilize the food and beverage services from the neighboring sportsbook.

“In all my years in the gaming industry, the opening of sportsbook and poker room has to be the most exciting time in my career,” Ortiz said.

The sportsbook and poker room projects follow a $100 million expansion the casino’s third-floor space.

That part of the overall project involved more than 120,000 square feet of space and has provided guests with new gaming, food and entertainment experiences, including Rock & Brews, the restaurant brainchild of legendary musicians Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons from the rock band KISS.
