Pete’s Pops Will Be Open for Spring Hours This Weekend

The local maker of frozen pops is kicking off longer hours.

If you’re out this weekend – I don’t want to jinx it but the weather currently sounds pretty great for Saturday – you might be thinking it’s time to christen the season with a Pete’s pop. If not, here’s a nudge.

All three brick-and-mortar Pete’s Pops locations are starting their spring hours – Saturdays and Sundays, noon-6 p.m. Those locations are Bay View (916 E. Russell Ave.), West Allis (1977 S. 71st St.) and the headquarters/production facility (3809 W. Vliet St.). In mid-May, owner Pete Cooney expects to add Friday hours, and after Memorial Day, the shops will launch their summer hours: Tuesday-Sunday noon-8 p.m.

Last summer, the local popsicle maker rolled out a seasonal pop-up at Milwaukee Public Market (400 N. Water St.) called Sneaky Pete’s. The pop-up is coming back, too – opening for the season on Saturday, May 21 and operating through September.

You’ll also find the frozen treats at festivals and farmers markets such as Shorewood and South Shore.

And about those pop flavors: Pete’s has a boatload of them, including strawberry lemonade, key lime pie, banana cream, fudgesicle, Arnold Palmer and coffee ’n donuts.
