Party Time

Party Time

A young Democratic delegate braces for the convention.

Jason Rae was 17 years old when he attended the 2004 Democratic National Convention as the youngest member ever, although not as a voting delegate.

“I didn’t sleep for the entire week,” he says, as he attended workshops by day and lengthy convention sessions by night featuring 50-75 speakers.

This time, Democrats in Philadelphia for the 2016 event (July 25-28) will have to follow Donald Trump’s act at the Republican National Convention (July 18-21), says Rae, now 29 and attending his fourth DNC.

Also head of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, Rae expects the need for unity will override any remaining discord from Clinton vs. Sanders.
