Tacos! Diners squeezed into the new Laughing Taco (1033 S. First St., in the newly constructed Trio apartments) today ‒ people maybe just like our staffers, who noticed customers inside eating when we drove by at lunchtime today. The little Walker’s Point taqueria (owned by Ardent’s Justin Carlisle and his spouse Lucia Munoz-Carlisle) didn’t post a big social-media alert. It just simply opened.
The restaurant, which offers modest seating and carryout service, has a very simple menu of seven tacos. The more traditional versions ‒ like trompo (seasoned pork, with cilantro and onion) ‒ come wrapped in small doubled corn tortillas. Similar construction for the bistec (steak), nopalitos (cactus in chile sauce) and papas (potatoes in tomato corn) tacos ($2.50-$2.75 and $4.75, depending style of taco). Beverages include Mexican sodas, slushies and various beers.
Hours to be: Tues-Sat 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
