If you live here, there are things you know about Wisconsin State Fair (August 4-14), that you count on: cream puffs, food on a stick, flavored milk, the giant slide. But every year there’s a new reason to bring along some chewable Pepto.
Some new foods appearing at State Fair 2016 this year, in no particular order: “beercicles” made from Pabst Blue Ribbon beer (citrus shandy and raspberry flavors); bacon-flavored popcorn balls; deep-fried cheese balls on a stick; deep-fried olives on a stick; caramel apple hard cider float; deep-fried bread pudding bites on a stick; disco tots (tater tots smothered in gravy and cheese); deep-fried mac and cheese-crusted pizza topped with coffee-rubbed beef chili; funnel cake fries; the mountain man burger (editor’s note: See the movie The Revenant for applicable Hugh Glass reference); pork rind nachos; Saz’s deep-fried sausage croquettes; Spam curds; and a burrito filled with all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal.
