New East Side Farmers Market to Kick Off on Sept. 23

Balzac Wine Bar hosts the new outdoor event, with two dates this fall and plans to return next spring.

On Saturday, Sept. 23, a new farmers market makes its debut, on Arlington Place and Brady Street on the East Side. Sponsored by Balzac Wine Bar, the market will host more than a dozen vendors this week, with several more expected on its second market-Saturday date, Oct. 21.

Look for foods (or handmade goods) from Lorganix Vegetables, Mr. Dye’s Pies, Elegant Farmer (apples, gourds, cider), MetConnect Sustainable Milwaukee, Fern and Nettle Soaps, Bittercube Bitters, Freese’s Candy and Heavenly Roasted Nuts, Chillwaukee Popsicles, La Masa Empanadas and Balzac Beignets and Coffee.

On the 21st, in addition to many of the above-mentioned, vendors will include Big City Greens (vegetables and mushrooms), 5 Lilies Jams and Preserves, Clock Shadow Creamery and Tippecanoe Herbs, Tonics, Teas and Salves.

Market hours (rain or shine): 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Plans are for the market to return in late spring 2018 ‒ and be held every Saturday. Vendors, farmers and artists are expected to change from week to week.
