  • Urban Milwaukee suggests a handful of ways Milwaukee should be more like Detroit, including more civic pride t-shirt designs.
  • Alderman Chevy Johnson announced this morning that he will be standing outside near the intersection of North 60th Street and Capitol Drive tomorrow afternoon from 3:30-5 p.m. with signage that encourages drives to slow down.
  • Leading the Journal Sentinel’s homepage right now is a story about the richest “self-made” woman in the country’s taxes, or lack thereof. Diane Hendricks, chairwoman of ABC Supply, has a net worth of “nearly $5 billion,” reports Cary Spivak.
  • Egads! Are flying cars the new hoverboards? Google co-founder Larry Page is putting his money on it, says TIME.
  • A Tanzanian man has been ordered to pay a steep fine  – or face jail time – for insulting the country’s president on Facebook. 

Claire Hanan worked at the magazine as an editor from 2012-2017. She edited the Culture section and wrote stories about all sorts of topics, including the arts, fashion, politics and more. In 2016, she was a finalist for best profile writing at the City and Regional Magazine Awards for her story "In A Flash." In 2014, she won the the Milwaukee Press gold award for best public service story for editing "Handle With Care," a service package about aging in Milwaukee. Before all this, she attended the University of Missouri's School of Journalism and New York University's Summer Publishing Institute.
