Tampons, resignations, loans, candidates. It’s a grab bag of news, y’all.

Your recommended morning reading:

  • A Madison Democratic has proposed a bill that would mandate that the state stock restrooms in state-owned buildings, and schools, with feminine hygiene products.
  • Tonight is the latest GOP debate at the Milwaukee Theatre. We hope you didn’t have plans that involved parking in that area because it will surely be backed up. Senior Editor Matt Hrodey and I will be covering it for the magazine so be sure to check back at milwaukeemag.com after 8 p.m. when the primary debate begins.
  • U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin is asking the U.S. Attorney General to investigate the WEDC about some of its more questionable loans.

  • The University of Missouri system president and the University of Missouri-Columbia’s chancellor stepped down yesterday amid protests about the racial climate at the state’s flagship university.

Claire Hanan worked at the magazine as an editor from 2012-2017. She edited the Culture section and wrote stories about all sorts of topics, including the arts, fashion, politics and more. In 2016, she was a finalist for best profile writing at the City and Regional Magazine Awards for her story "In A Flash."
