Morning Links for July 28, 2015

A female football coach, Boy Scouts end their ban on gay adults and Gov. Walker’s desire to declaw the EPA.

The news you might just be able to use:

  • The Boy Scouts are ending their ban on gay adult leaders, reports the Associated Press.
  • Presidential candidate and our own Gov. Walker has said he would like to see the Environmental Protection Agency turned into a “umbrella organization” that mediates state disputes, thereby letting states create their own environmental laws and standards.
  • A group called Phenomenal Men’s Support Group is trying to curb the perceived allure of prison. They’re doing so by creating a traveling jail cell that they bring to children to show the grim reality of life behind bars. From the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service:

“We didn’t want to make this a fun experience for them. A single bad decision could end you up in here and not enough kids realize that,” Chapman said. “Once you step in [the cell] you lose your name and become a number.”

  • Nearly 95 years after women gained the right to vote, the National Football League has hired a female coach. What a day.
