  • Using Milwaukee (and Gov. Walker) as a case study, Politico takes a deep dive on highway spending with a new piece by Michael Grunwald called “Overpasses: A Love Story.”
  • In local election news, Chris Kapenga of Delafield is the new state senator for the 33rd Senate District, and State Senator Tim Carpenter will square off with Milwaukee County Supervisor Mark Borkowski in the special election for Joe Dudzik’s’s Common Council seat in the 11th Aldermanic District.
  • Congresswoman Gwen Moore and Senator Tammy Baldwin sent a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch “in response to mounting frustration over the Department of Justice’s lack of expedience in the assessment  of potential civil rights violations in the officer-involved shooting death of Dontre Hamilton.”
