President Obama’s address to the nation and House Speaker Paul Ryan’s response. Plus: news on public records, Steve Scaffidi talks with Mike Gousha, and is there evidence for the “Ferguson effect” in Milwaukee?

Good morning, and welcome to the week.

President Obama addressed the nation last night in the wake of the terrorist attack in San Bernardino. Watch the video below.

House Speaker Paul Ryan criticized the speech, calling it a “half-hearted attempt to defend and distract from a failing policy.”

According to a Wisconsin State Journal report, Gov. Walker and his administration are finding new ways to change access to public records.

The Washington Post takes a look at whether or not the so-called “Ferguson effect” is the reason behind the city’s sharp increase in homicides in 2015.

Oak Creek mayor Steve Scaffidi talked with Mike Gousha about mass shootings this week on UpFront. WisPolitics has the recap.
