Jacqueline Schmidt x Chasing Paper, the newest collection from the Milwaukee-based removable wallpaper company Chasing Paper, launched today. The collection is in collaboration with Brooklyn artist Jaqueline Schmidt.
“We were connected through a mutual friend back in early 2021, and I was actually working on a playroom for my girls,” co-founder of Chasing Paper, Elizabeth Rees says. “One of her prints, ‘Woodland,’ I was like ‘I want to put this in my girls’ playroom.'”
The collection is comprised of 15 different prints, each available in four different sizes. Rees says that she was drawn to Schmidt’s work because of the unique feminine touch it has – how the prints could be whimsical but sophisticated at the same time.
Milwaukee Magazine connects you with the most trusted and enduring local businesses. Here, we introduce you to the people whose hard work makes these businesses successful.
“This collection, I think, has a really great range, and Jacqueline is just such a delight to work with,” she says. “She’s such a talent and has been so collaborative from the beginning.”
Designs like “Birds of Paradise” and “Woodland” showcase the more the whimsical side of the collection, while Rees’ projected customer favorites, “Plaid,” and “Twigs” take on a more formal feel.
“We are always looking for artists and designers to work with that feel like [the papers] could do both; that they can be playful and imaginative but also still elevated and still something that could be a fit inside or outside of a child’s room,” Rees says.
And as spring turns the corner, Rees believes that any of papers in the collection are great for rooms that need a little spring cleaning. Be it a child’s bedroom or a powder room accent wall, she says that the prints’ patterns, even the bolder ones, are versatile.
“Between the florals and the neutrals, I feel like this collection could give a fun start to any room, so we’re excited to see where our customers use it,” Rees says.
