This Milwaukee Art Museum tradition is back after a two-year absence. “Art In Bloom,” on view April 7-10, tasks local floral artists with bringing museum mainstay artworks to life using the colorful, aromatic harbingers of spring.
The uncanny floral arrangements reside near their museum counterparts, giving guests the chance to see each piece from two different perspectives. The museum has run the event annually since 2008 – except for 2020 and 2021 – and it welcomes more than 10,000 visitors over the course of four days.

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
“‘Art in Bloom’ signals that spring has arrived, and we’re thrilled this unique event is returning,” says Courtney Kihslinger, director of stewardship and events at MAM. “We look forward to showcasing the incredible interpretations of artworks in our galleries by our area’s most accomplished florists.”
This year will feature over 20 florists, including Belle Fiori, Alt’s and Flowers for Dreams. Art in Bloom’s usual marketplace, workshops, guided tours and fashion show are still on hiatus, but there’s more to the experience than arrangements. Live music will fill the air in Windhover Hall, where a vast indoor garden will serve as a gentle reminder of warmer days to come. Children can craft their own floral-inspired art in the Kohl’s Art Studio, and the museum store will be freshly stocked with springtime decor and gifts.
Tickets are sold out and only advance ticket holders will be admitted, according to the Milwaukee Art Museum website.
