Local Boutiques Team Up for Passport Program

Explore the world of Milwaukee-made and Milwaukee-centric shopping.

Strength in numbers? Yes, if you’re a local retailer. Seven local retailers teamed up and created a summer “passport book” which earns you, the shopper, coupons at the participating boutiques. It’s an initiative aimed at encouraging local shopping. And I don’t need to remind you how much Milwaukeeans love discounts.

From home furnishings to candles, yarn, children’s clothes, and the much-loved Milwaukee pride T-shirts, you can find treat-yoself trinkets as well as gifts for just about anyone on your list. All you have to do is go from store to store and get your passport book stamped to “unlock” a coupon for a 20 percent discount on your purchase. Participating stores include Olson House, The Waxwing, Hometown Established, Wild Haven Fiber Co., Sparrow Collective, Fischberger’s Vliet Street Variety (the younger sister to the Holton Street mainstay) and Permanent Baggage.

The program launched on July 15, and is set to run for about another month. The stores are also hosting raffles the first week of September for $100 gift baskets from each store. And that’s a lot of candles.
