Nov. 6 Fashion Show to Help Kids in Need

The evening will also feature a pop-up shop.

Since 2014, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee student Jacarrie Carr has donated over 3,000 pairs of shoes to Milwaukee kids who need them. On Nov. 6, his nonprofit Kicks4Kids hosts a night of fashion in the Astor Hotel Ballroom (924 E. Juneau Ave.) that will feature a runway show for both children and adults. Afterward attendees can peruse a pop-up shop featuring items from 10 area boutiques.

The runway show will feature clothing, shoes and bow ties from SGOD Media, Glam Kloset, Build a Bow, Fiend Shoetique and more. The money earned from ticket sales to the fashion show goes directly to Jacarrie’s Kicks4Kids’ first Christmas toy drive, which will be held in December. Carr plans on making the toy drive another one of his annual fundraising shows, he says.

Carr started his organization to give back to the community, he says, because he knew what it was like to go without. He also wants to help take the financial burden off cash-strapped parents who might not otherwise be able to afford shoes for their children. “I just love to see these children smiling and happy,” he says.

Tickets are on sale now for $10, and can be bought on the day of for $15.
