Like Minds Brewery-Restaurant Targets Late-June Opening

Like Minds is not a “brewpub” but certainly a brewery that will serve food — and interesting, evolving options that complement the beers it makes.

The news that Like Minds Brewing Company, co-owned by Sanford’s Justin Aprahamian, would open a brewery in MKE broke back in April. Aprahamian and business partner John Lavelle are settling their MKE brewing outpost in the old Hamilton bar (823 E. Hamilton St.). (They also maintain the Like Minds brewery in Chicago.) But beer is not the only thing happening in their MKE digs.

When Like Minds opens – in late June, if the construction pieces continue to fall into place – Aprahamian and his sous chefs, Jimmy Cababa and Paul Funk (the former of Sanford, the latter of the University Club and Hinterland) – will be implementing a food program that complements and incorporates Like Minds beer and that isn’t dictated by hard-and-fast rules. Without any concrete promises on what specifically you’ll be able to eat, Aprahamian expects to have 14-15 items – a “really good” soup, salad, vegetable dish, maybe a burger! With Funk on board, charcuterie is almost guaranteed. While Aprahamian planned the kitchen to mirror Sanford’s (that restaurant is located just blocks away), the drinking and dining vibe isn’t white tablecloth at all. The partners will also utilize the patio. As for beers, Aprhamian hopes to open with some 10 varieties of Like Minds beers. More details to come closer to the opening.
