July 18: Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal
Soul music makes its way to Milwaukee this Thursday, July 18 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cathedral Square Park. Josh Hoyer and his band Soul Colossal will be delivering that funky, grooving, energetic sound made famous by the likes of Otis Redding and James Brown.
Hoyer formed the award-winning group in 2012 in famed blues town Lincoln, Nebraska, and they have been rocking ever since. Taking inspiration from the sounds of Stax, Motown, Muscle Shoals and New Orleans, the band has one goal for every performance – to have the crowd dancing so much they forget even their smallest troubles.
You may recognize Hoyer from NBC’s The Voice, where he was featured as a contestant in 2017, or from the group’s extensive national tours over the last several years – playing over 150 shows per year. The band continuously crosses musical boundaries both in style and era, all accompanied by Hoyer’s signature soul-shouting voice.
