Thursday, Sept. 20 ‒ hey, that’s this week! ‒ is the official launch of Fauntleroy’s happy hour. Fauntleroy, as in, the new modern French-inspired joint with an air of ’70s rock ’n roll (316 N. Milwaukee St.). And younger bro of nearby American-Chinese restaurant DanDan.
Seems fitting that a restaurant that, like DanDan, isn’t trying to be traditional would embrace the weekday happy hour. Here the two hours of bliss happen Tuesday-Friday, 4-6 p.m. For food specials, they’re rolling out a croque madame sandwich and a Grande Royale burger with cheese ($8 each). There are also oysters for 2 bucks and shrimp cocktail for one dollar. Beer, wine and drink specials include $2 off tap beers, a daily punch for $7, and by-the-glass wines $6-$8.
Note ‒ and you’ll want to note this ‒ that the Grand Royale is two ground beef brisket patties with special sauce, cheese, shredded lettuce and pickles on a sesame seed bun.
