More than 90 local bands and artists will perform at 25 different venues across five neighborhoods to support arts education programs in Milwaukee Public Schools.

This week the local music scene takes over (essentially) every possible live music establishment in the city for the second annual music festival Arte Para Todos. The four-day fundraiser, which kicks off this Thursday, was started as a response to arts budget cuts in Milwaukee Public Schools. Rather than put all their efforts in protesting the decisions, the festival organizers wanted to create relatively slight but perceptible impacts in their local schools through a massive community event.

More than 90 bands spread across 25 venues and five neighborhoods are setting out to support arts programs for several MPS schools — George Washington Carver Academy in Brewer’s Hill, Escuela Vieau School in Walker’s Point, Milwaukee Parkside School of the Arts in Bay View, and Frederick J. Gaenslen School in Riverwest.

The first year was a resounding success, generating more than $20,000 for last year’s partner schools, and this weekend looks to raise even more money, as the festival added an extra day and voyages into two new neighborhoods (Walker’s Point and Harambee).

Individual tickets for shows are $7; day passes range from $9-$17, but the best deal by far is the weekend passes, which runs an insanely cheap $25. You can buy tickets and/or donate to the festival here.

Listen to the 29-track Arte Para Todos compilation, which features 6 unreleased tracks from The Fatty Acids, NO/NO, Siren, Sat Nite Duets, Ruth B8r Ginsburg and Lorde Fredd33, and check out the absolutely loaded schedule below.
