Grace Janik was awarded the prestigious society of reproductive surgeons (SRS) distinguished surgeon award at the annual meeting of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) in New Orleans. Upon presenting her with this award, the president of SRS, Dr. Preston Perry, recognized Dr. Janik’s accomplishments in the field of reproductive surgery.
“You have been a champion and leader for reproductive surgery,” he said. “You have inspired me and numerous REI and MIGS fellows, residents, and more paving the way for better care for women across the country and the world”.
Dr. Janik is a subspecialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS). Her expertise in both specialties enables her to offer excellence in a wide variety of services to improve and retain fertility as well as treat complex gynecologic problems. She did her fellowship in REI at Michael Reese Hospital/University of Illinois. In 1990, she started the IVF program at Reproductive Specialty Center (RSC) which quickly became nationally recognized by US News and World Report and ranked third in the “Top 10 Clinics for IVF.” Her pioneering work in laparoscopic tubal reanastomosis and endometriosis won first prize at ASRM. She has lectured and operated extensively throughout the world, elevating RSC to a destination center for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, especially endometriosis, tubal disease, fibroids and uterine anomalies.
Dr. Janik’s career has been devoted to high quality, individualized patient care as well as advancing the field through research, advocacy and education. She has served as president of Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS), the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), and the Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (FMIGS). Locally, she has been the site director at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital for OB/GYN and MIGS and has trained over 200 OB/GYN residents and eight MIGS fellows. She has published numerous chapters and articles and served as assistant editor for Human Reproduction. She is the GYN consultant for the FDA devices committee.
