Cut Lines for March 27, 2015

Beauty in Bloom, a burlesque exhibit, Net-a-Porter news.

Start your weekend right with a smattering of fashion and retail news.

  • The Art Museum’s Beauty and Bloom weekend is in full force today, leading up to tomorrow’s Katherine Feiner fashion show. (I will also be moderating a panel with local street style bloggers tomorrow at 3 p.m.) The full list of events, ticket info and winning fashion-inspired floral designs can be found here.
  • On April 10, an exhibit about the history of burlesque will open at the Charles Allis Art Museum. The costumes are what I’m interested in, and they are, apparently, the highlight of the show. The show explores performers from Lydia Thompson to Dita von Teese and Amber Ray, a contemporary burlesque performer who was born in and grew up in Milwaukee.
  • Sydney b., a children’s boutique in Mequon, is now carrying children’s dance apparel, shoes and accessories.
  • Yesterday’s big news was that Amazon is “in talks” to buy Net-a-Porter, the original online luxury apparel purveyor. If it happens, the purchase would be a huge step forward in Amazon’s foray into fashion.
  • Streetwear site Karmaloop has filed for bankruptcy and…Kanye might be buying it.
