There’s news of a chef nature in the Fifth Ward. Christian Schroeder – who’s been running the kitchen at Buckley’s Restaurant & Bar (801 N. Cass St.) since spring of 2015 – is taking over the head chef job at Black Sheep (216 S. Second St.). Schroeder, who worked at the short-lived Nourri in Washington Heights before coming to Buckley’s, will offer “creative takes on more traditional dishes,” per co-owner Wes Shaver. Schroeder’s Black Sheep gig is official on May 16.
The current menu is a mix of bar snacks, apps and cheese and meat boards; share-able plates like fried chicken with mac and cheese; and larger plates such as steak frites. The menu under Schroeder is expected to be similar.
