All right, Shorewood-ians. The time for a pulled ham omelet, crispy blue crab cake, monkey bread and those addictive stuffed hash browns has finally come. Blue’s Egg (4195 N. Oakland Ave.) kicks off its opening day on Tuesday (7 a.m.-2 p.m.).
The menu mirrors the flagship location’s (317 N. 76th St.) food offerings, with a few differences in terms of beverages. At both restaurants, you can order a new Benedict – slow-cooked beef cheeks, poached eggs, arugula on a cheddar buttermilk biscuit with sauce choron (a tomato béarnaise). The beef cheeks are also available as a sandwich with pepper jack cheese, roasted garlic mayo and caramelized onion on a hoagie roll.
The aforementioned beverages include bloody marys, palomas, bellinis, mimosas and other stiff drinks, plus Valentine coffee.
The 76th and Blue Mound location is known for daily specials. And specials will also be available (5 to 8 of them everyday, along with days-of-the-week promos) at the Shorewood digs. As for the look of this younger sibling, it does bear a resemblance to its elder. Not all of the art is up yet; however, the space has a wall mural based on a Milwaukee Gas Light Building print.
As at the original location, Blue’s in Shorewood does not take reservations on Saturdays or Sundays. But on weekdays (Mon-Fri), it does accept a certain number of reservations for parties of seven or more. Shorewood phone: 414-312-8551.
