This Bites: Vegan Dining and a Weekend of Festivals

The new crop of plant-based restaurants, from Strange Town to super-new Celesta, and much more.

While you might be thinking, “Man, this weather bites,” turn to tastier things such as… this week’s This Bites, on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee This week, Tarik Moody and I talk about my plant-based dining story the latest Milwaukee Health.  Not covered in that piece, because it hadn’t opened when I wrote it, is Celesta on North Farwell Avenue. Tarik and I talk about what makes these new vegan restaurants interesting, and how Celesta is going to change the dynamic even further.

In our events department, if you’re not hitting Summer Soulstice on the East Side or Cedarburg’s Strawberry Festival this weekend, you might consider Sangria Fest on Sunday at Hotel Madrid (600 S. Sixth St.) or Greek Fest at State Fair Park. We cover, plus Saturday June 23 is the last night to order the three-course Bourdain Tribute menu at Mistral, the restaurant adjacent to the Avalon Theater in Bay View.
