17 Beer Events Brewing In Milwaukee This Week: May 15-19

Company Brewing turns nine (hard to believe) and celebrates on Saturday. That’s just one of the many beer-related events happening this week.

Wednesday, May 15

Lakefront Brewery is busy taking over the taps at two Tap Yard locations. They’re bringing a bunch of their beers to The Tap Yard – Waukesha (1927 E. Sunset Dr.) and The Tap Yard – West Bend (4875 County Hwy. Z) from 5 to 7 p.m.

Sprecher Brewing’s Traveling Beer Garden makes its first stop of the summer at Greenfield Park (2028 S. 124th St.). Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Friday, May 17

The Tap Yard – Brookfield (2925 N. Barker Rd.) celebrates its second anniversary by handing some of the taps over to 3 Floyds Brewing and Maplewood Brewery from 4 to 9 p.m.

Try samples from Terrapin Beer Co. at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 3 to 5 p.m.

Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) is offering samples form Hinterland Brewery from 3 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 18

Company Brewing (735 E. Center St.) has big plans for its ninth anniversary block party. Of course, lots of taps inside and outside the taproom will be flowing. There will also be food, a bounce house, a petting zoo, music, and all sorts of fun from noon to whenever the place closes.

Urban Harvest Brewing (1024 S. 5th St.) isn’t too far behind. The brewery celebrates eight years of existence with a block party from 1 to 8 p.m. The festivities include food, live music, and a tapping of 2023 Big Ring Bourbon Red, an amber made with bourbon-infused oak.

Enjoy the Riveredge Nature Center (4458 County Hwy. Y, Saukville) with a beverage or two during Frothy Forage. From noon to 3 p.m. you can sample beer, wine and cider from nearly two dozen purveyors. And from noon to 4 p.m. you have the opportunity to walk the grounds, listen to live music and fuel up at a handful of food trucks. Tickets are $50.

Component Brewing Company (2018 S. 1st St.) honors departing head brewer Doug Krysiak with Doug-A-Palooza. The taproom party runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and includes some bottle sharing, pizza and random fun.

See what skills local homebrewers have at the Cream City Homebrew Competition, happening at Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.) from noon to 4 p.m. The best entry, as determined by a panel of judges, will be made commercially by Gathering Place.

Brews & BBQ at New Barons Brewing Co-op (2018 S. 1st St.) from 1 to 7 p.m. Wild Oak BBQ is celebrating its grand opening by bringing the smoker to the brewery. Side note, one of the sauces is made with New Barons Schwarzbier.

The weekly release at Hacienda Beer Co. (2018 E. North Ave.) is Ever Moving Planet, a hazy IPA.

Congrats to Torzala Brewing (2018 S. 1st St.) which  is celebrating two years of business with a party in the lot of the Lincoln Warehouse from noon to 6 p.m. They’ll be pouring some favorites and an as-of-yet unmentioned new release. There will also be a food truck, music and face painting.

Great Lakes Brewing is handing out samples at Discount Liquor Milwaukee from noon to 3 p.m.

Head to Discount Liquor Waukesha to try samples from Component Brewing (noon to 2 p.m.) and Dos Equis (1 to 3 p.m.).

Sunday, May 19

Lakefront Brewing (1872 N. Commerce St.) celebrates all things gluten-free at Maifest. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. they’ll be pouring a few gluten-free beers and food. There will also be vendors and artisans galore.

Station No. 06 (6800 W. Becher St.) is holding a meat raffle from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and while they’re doing it they’re pouring several taps from Central Waters Brewing.


Coming Soon

May 24: Busby’s (3475 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.), formerly the iconic Romans’ Pub, plans to open its doors at 3 p.m. Owner Rob Zellermayer knows his beer so expect the beer-centric nature of the legendary space to continue.

May 25: Draft & Vessel ‘Tosa (7479 Harwood Ave.) celebrates its third anniversary. Good beer will likely ensue.

May 29: Third Space’s Beer School covers the topic of sour beers.

June 1: Ope! Brewing (6751 W. National Ave.) celebrates its second year in business with a party. An anniversary saison, a collaboration with Perspective Brewing, will be on the menu.

June 2: Pilot Project is pairing Bloodys & Brews. Early bird tickets start at $20.

June 22: The popular Lager & Friends beer fest returns to Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.).
