15 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: May 1-5

A sure sign of spring is here is the opening of the five Tap Yard locations. Those taps start flowing on Wednesday.

Wednesday, May 1

Raised Grain Brewing (1725 Dolphin Dr., Waukesha) celebrates the opening of its renovated terrace with Spring Fling, which lasts until Saturday. Each day means live music in their new band shell, and they’re releasing a new beer, White Fox Witbier.

The weekly release at 1840 Brewing Company (342 E. Ward St.) is a fan favorite. The Cashmere Sweater Double IPA will be available in the taproom this week and in cans on Saturday.

Tap Yard beer garden locations across the area begin another busy season when they open up on May 1.

Friday, May 3

Try samples of Dos Equis at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from3 to 5 p.m.

MobCraft Beer is handing out samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 3 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 4

The Riverwest Pub Crawl is hitting members of the Riverwest Brewing Syndicate (Amorphic Beer, Black Husky Brewing, Company Brewing and Gathering Place Brewing) from noon to 7 p.m. $10 gets you deals at a handful of establishments, and proceeds benefit Kinship Community Food Center.

The South Milwaukee Baseball Boosters are hosting a beer and wine tasting at Pat’s Oak Manor (1804 15th Ave., South Milwaukee) to benefit the Rockets baseball team. For $30 you can sample a few libations and benefit high school athletics in the process. The tasting runs from 6 to 10 p.m.

Draft & Vessel (4417 N. Oakland Ave.) hosts a Blessing of the Bock from 2 to 5 p.m., which includes a tap takeover by Lakefront Brewery and a brat cookout. Enough said.

The weekly release at Hacienda Beer Co. is Does Anyone Work Around Here?, a dry-hopped lager.

Try beers from Brewery Ommegang at Discount Liquor Waukesha from noon to 2 p.m.

Sunday, May 5

New Barons Brewing Co-op (2018 S. 1st St.) is releasing Behind!, its Mexican lager, on Cinco de Mayo from noon to 6 p.m. Tacos La Fiera food truck will be there too.

The Tap Yard-Brookfield (2925 N. Barker Rd.) celebrates Cinco de Mayo by tapping a few Mexican lagers and a visit from the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta food truck.

The fourth annual Grilled Cheese Fest takes place at The Tap Yard – Waukesha (1927 E. Sunset Dr.) at noon. A handful of food truck give you plenty of options for grilled cheese and beer pairings.

Paint Nite at The Tap Yard – Milwaukee (1555 N. Rivercenter Dr.) means a blank canvas, two hours of expert instruction, and a masterpiece by the end of the night. Enjoy great beer while you’re at it. Tickets are $45.

Component Brewing (2018 S. 1st St.) is celebrating May Day For Mutts from 2 to 6 p.m. with a dog adoption from Canine Cupids and $1 from each beer going to help our furry friends.

May 29: Third Space’s Beer School covers the topic of sour beers.
