City Lights Coconut Porter

Beer Events Brewing This Week in Milwaukee: Dec. 17-22

One of the highlights this week is the release of City Lights Imperial Coconut Porter. But that’s far from the only thing going on. Check out the rest of the festive week.

Tuesday, Dec. 17

Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) hosts a release party for City Lights Imperial Coconut Porter starting at 4 p.m. The standard version is one of the best beers made in Milwaukee, so there should be some buzz around this amped up version.

The first of two Holiday Rarities Bierklasses in the Milwaukee area is at Café Hollander Mequon (5900 W. Mequon Rd.). From 7 to 9 p.m. you can get festive by sampling rare winter brews. Cost is $45.

The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.) hosts a Christmas customer appreciation party from 6 to 11 p.m. It means deals on food and, of course, beer.

Wednesday, Dec. 18

A Christmas Story is required holiday viewing for most. Check out the classic movie at Sugar Maple while sipping on beers from Indeed Brewing. Each Indeed beer you buy earns you a raffle ticket and a chance to win a Red Ryder BB gun, of course. The movie starts at 7 p.m.

The Milwaukee Beer Society samples holiday beers at its weekly meetup. Be at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.) from 6 to 8:30 p.m. to sample a few.

Thursday, Dec. 19

Crafty Cow (2675 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) hosts the 12 Beers of Christmas beer dinner with Third Space Brewing. What’s different about this four-course beer dinner is that you have more than one beer option to choose from at each course, which allows you to create your own tasting experience. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the first course starts at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $50.

The Holiday Rarities Bierklasse comes to Café Hollander (2608 N. Downer Ave.) from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $45.

Deschutes will be at Discount Liquor Milwaukee from 3 to 6 p.m.

Third Space Brewing comes to Discount Liquor Waukesha from noon to 2 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 22

Holiday cookie decorating is a Christmas staple, and what better place to do it than a brewery? Third Space (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.) hosts a cookie event from noon to 3:30 p.m. For just $10 you get a welcome beer, five cookies and decorating supplies. Note: Cookie artists under 21 are welcome, they just can’t partake in the free beer.

Lakefront’s Holiday Bash wraps up with an ugly sweater party. Wear one and you get your first beer free. At 2 p.m., they’ll be showing Christmas Vacation in the Beer Hall.
