Beer lovers may have to make some tough choices on Saturday. The schedule includes a fundraiser, a 5K run, a couple of anniversary celebrations, a barrel-aged beer fest and a couple of limited beer releases.
Tuesday, March 19
Head to the Beer Hall at Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) from 4 to 8 p.m. to try the brewery’s collaboration with Titletown Brewing Company, Ludicrous Lager Imperial Schwartzbier.
Learn about beer marketing strategies from a few people who know a thing or two about it at Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.). The panel discussion Beer Advertising in a Crowded Market is sponsored by United Adworkers and includes experts like Milwaukee Brewing founder Jim McCabe and Third Space Brewing co-founder Andy Gehl. Cost is $5 and the event starts with networking at 5:30 p.m.
It seems like every week The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.) has an event featuring pours of limited brews. Yep, this week it’s four barrel-aged Ten Fidy Imperial Stout options from Oskar Blues. You don’t see the three double barrel-aged versions very often. Get there right at 6 p.m. to be sure you get some.
Wednesday, March 20
Ahnapee Brewery from Algoma takes over the taps at Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) at 5 p.m.
The Crate Club meets at Milwaukee Brewing (1128 N. 9th St.) from 5 to 8 p.m. Bring your crate and fill it up with tasty MKE beers at a nice discount.
The Milwaukee Beer Society examines stouts at its weekly meeting at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.). Get there at 6 p.m. for what should be a great night of tasting.
Thursday, March 21
There’s another grilled cheese and beer pairing at Uber Tap Room (1048 N. Old World Third St.) at 6 p.m. Pair sandwiches with four beers from The Fermentorium for just $15.
Play hooky from work and head to Champps (1240 S. Moorland Rd., Brookfield) to watch the NCAA Tournament and sip on great beers. Check the event page the day before tip off to see what wonderful beers will be tapped. (Marquette’s game against Murray State is expected to begin around 3:30 p.m.)

Friday, March 22
Start the second full day of the NCAAs at the Java Blanca Brunch at The Garage (1709 N. Arlington Pl.) at noon. The tasty coffee cream ale from Third Space is a fine way to start the day and should pair nicely with brunch. There will be other Third Space beers on tap too, including Nexus of the Universe Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout. (Wisconsin’s tilt with Oregon is scheduled to tip around 3:30 p.m.)
Untitled Art (3 to 6 p.m.) and The Fermentorium (4 to 7 p.m.) hand out samples at Discount Liquor Milwaukee.

Saturday, March 23
Explorium Brewpub (5300 S. 76th St.) hosts Back the Blue, a fundraiser in conjunction with the Milwaukee Police Department, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event includes a silent auction, a raffle and the release of 5-0.2 Coffee and Donut Stout.
Black Husky Brewing is a huge part of the Shamrock 5K Beer Run at Veteran’s Park (1010 N. Lincoln Memorial Dr.) at 2 p.m. Don’t expect a competitive 5K. The race isn’t timed and there are Black Husky brews at every kilometer, including the special release of O’Harry Irish Red Ale.
Good City Brewing (2108 N. Farwell Ave.) has a big day planned with the release of two limited brews. Get there at 11 a.m. to grab a bottle of Lord Lyon Scotch Ale aged in Knob Creek rye barrels. Good City is also tapping the first in the taproom-only Scarcity Series: Centennial Triple IPA.
The Crafty Cow (153 E. Wisconsin Ave., Oconomowoc) hosts its fifth annual Barrel Fest from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Expect a lineup of some great beer. Keep an eye on the event page for the beer list.
The Fermentorium (7481 State Rd. 60, Cedarburg) celebrates its third anniversary from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. That means good things for beer lovers, including Leather Bound Books, a barrel-aged Belgian blend. Try it on tap or pick up a bottle.
The Outsider at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel (310 E. Chicago St.) is pouring its take on Gathering Place Brewing’s Wordsmith Wheat Wine, which has been aged in a bourbon and Manhattan barrel. Brewmaster Corey Blodgett will be there to host.
Nomad World Pub (1401 E. Brady St.) celebrates 24 years of existence (hard to believe) with a weekend of festivities. On Saturday, that means tapping a firkin of Lakefront Fixed Gear Red IPA at 2 p.m.
Good City Brewing hands out samples at Discount Liquor Milwaukee from noon to 3 p.m. Also, Boston Beer Company’s Marathon 26.2 will be available to try from noon to 3 p.m.
Discount Liquor Waukesha offers samples of beers from The Fermentorium and Untitled Art from noon to 3 p.m.
