Beer Events Brewing This Week: May 16-20

A busy week of beer events starts with a beer dinner and ends with a 5K run. See what else is in store for this week beer fans.

Tuesday, May 16

Erv’s Mug (130 W. Ryan Rd.) hosts a Great Lakes beer dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost is $40. Barrel-aged barleywine and Blackout Stout are just a couple of the beer highlights for the four-course dinner.

When I was in my 20s, import night at a smoky subterranean Landmark Lanes (2220 N. Farwell Ave.) was on my weekly schedule. The venerable East Side hangout celebrates 90 years of existence with a tap takeover by Lakefront Brewery, pizza from Ian’s and more fun. Cheers to one of the best bars in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Beer Society examines imports at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.) from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost is $10.

Ale Asylum takes over the taps at Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) at 5 p.m. Expect some tasty draft-only options.

Thursday, May 18

Ballast Point takes over six of the taps at The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.) starting at 4 p.m. One of them is a barrel-aged Sea Monster Imperial Stout, which is reason enough to go.

Friday, May 19

Ballast Point hands out samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 4 to 7 p.m.

Bell’s comes to Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 4 to 7 p.m. and is bringing the tasty Mars IIPA with them. Goose Island pours samples too during that time.

Third Space Brewing (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.) releases its new It Was All a Dream IPA at 2 p.m. The “juicy” IPA is described as having peach, pineapple and passion fruit  flavor and mild bitternerss.

Saturday, May 20

The Milwaukee Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival comes to the Waukesha County Expo Center (1000 Northview Rd.) from noon to 6 p.m. More than 25 food trucks and several brewers (beers are $6) will be on hand. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. VIP tickets can be purchased for $20.

Amber and red beers are the subjects of the weekly free tasting at both Three Cellars locations (7228 S. 27th St. and N72 W13400 Lund Lane, Menomonee Falls) from 1 to 4 p.m.

Explorium Brewpub (5300 S. 76th St.) hosts the Summer Launch Bash from 3 p.m. to midnight. Live music, beer from Explorium and other local breweries and a family-friendly celebration of the impending summer are the reasons to show up. Tickets start at $20.

Get your fill of both nature and craft beer during Frothy Forage at Riveredge Nature Center (4458 County Rd. Y, Saukville) from noon to 4 p.m. Sample beer from several local breweries and take part in a beer trek, a two-mile trail hike with beverages along the way. Music by the Evergreen Grass Band provides entertainment. Tickets are $35 or $40 after May 17.

The monthly Yoga on Tap at Third Space runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The $20 fee covers the yoga class, a beer and a charitable donation.
