Beer Events Brewing This Week: July 11-16

It’s a busy week for beer lovers. Beer dinners, beer runs, tastings and beer classes abound, and is all wrapped by a big Sunday parking lot party at Ray’s Wine & Spirits.

Tuesday, July 11

Beer School at Comet Café (1947 N. Farwell Ave.) tackles Love American Styles starting at 7:30 p.m. I’m not sure what that’ll mean in terms of beer, but I’m sold on the reference to bad 1970s television. Tickets are $25 online (or $30 at the door).

Pair four great cheeses with four beers from 3 Sheeps Brewing at the Uber Tap Room (1048 N. Old World 3rd St.) from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $14.

Wednesday, July 12

The Milwaukee Beer Society samples excellent beer from Almanac Beer Co. from 6 to 9 p.m. at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.). Cost is $15 plus a one-time $10 membership fee. If you like sours and wild ales, you’ll want to attend.

The fifth annual Central Waters beer dinner includes five different Central Waters beers and five different cheeses from Hook’s Cheese. Owners of both—Anello Mollica of Central Waters and Tony Hook of Hook’s Cheese—will be there to explain their delicious creations. Tickets are $65 and reservations can be made by calling 414-964-8377.

Sprecher’s two traveling beer gardens begin stays at new parks. The Roll Out the Barrel Tour sets up shop until August 6 at Scout Lake (5902 W. Loomis Rd.), and the Pass Me a Pint Tour pulls into Zablocki Park (3717 W. Howard Ave.).

The Wild Wednesday Craft Beer Cruise hosts Sierra Nevada Brewing. Choose between 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Tickets are just $29.

Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) hosts One Barrel Brewing for its weekly tap takeover at 5 p.m. Expect specialties, as per usual.

Thursday, July 13

Eagle Park Brewing (2018 S. 1st St.) hosts the MKE Beer Geek Summer Beer Class from 7 to 9 p.m. The $25 ticket gets you five beer samples, including two from Eagle Park—I’m guessing one will be the refreshing Loop Station Golden Ale.

Three Lions Pub (4515 N. Oakland Ave.) hosts a Tapas & Taps event from 6 to 9 p.m. Pair six beers from Third Space Brewing with six tapas from Three Lions. Here’s the catch, you pick the best pairings. If Third Space and Three Lions agree with your selections you can win a prize.

Champps Americana (1240 S. Moorland Rd.) hosts Botanicals & Barrels with Avery Brewing. The lineup includes the excellent Vanilla Bean Stout, Coconut Porter, Tangerine Quad, Raspberry Sour and a few more specialties.

Friday, July 14

Dogfish Head hands out samples at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 3 to 6 p.m.

Try beer from Lake Louie at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 4 to 6 p.m.

Capital Brewery takes over the taps at Milwaukee’s Craft Beer Garden at Humboldt Park (3000 S. Howell Ave.).

Saturday, July 15

The Brewery Running Series comes to MobCraft (505 S. 5th St.) at 11 a.m. The casual 5K run (or walk) costs $30 and ends with a beer. There’s really no reason not to participate.

Session beers are the subjects of the weekly free tasting at both Three Cellars locations (7228 S. 27th St. and N72 W13400 Lund Lane, Menomonee Falls) from 1 to 4 p.m.

Discount Liquor Waukesha hands out samples from Dogfish Head from noon to 3 p.m.

3 Sheeps Brewing comes to Discount Liquor Milwaukee from noon to 3 p.m.

Sunday, July 16

Ray’s Wine & Spirits (8930 W. North Ave.) hosts its 56th Anniversary Parking Lot Party from noon to 5 p.m. The event includes food trucks, a beer truck, games, live music and the general good vibes that the folks at Ray’s exude. Cheers to the Rayborhood!
