Beer Events Brewing This Week: Dec. 19-23

There’s no slowing down right before the holidays. If you haven’t tried the limited release of Founders CBS yet, this week is a good chance. It will be available at both ABV Social and Draft & Vessel.

Tuesday, Dec. 19

The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.) is tapping a few delicious varieties of Ballast Point Victory At Sea Imperial Porter. The highlight is the one aged in High West barrels. Show up early if you want to try some. The sipping starts at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 20

Appropriately enough, the Milwaukee Beer Society highlights holiday beers from 6 to 9 p.m. at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.). The cost is just $10.

Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) hosts A Spotted Cow Christmas Story from 6 to 9 p.m. That means $5 Spotted Cow taps and a screening of A Christmas Story starting at 7 p.m. A raffle includes prizes like New Glarus R & D bottles and a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun (no word on if there’s a compass in the stock). Dressing up in appropriate costume is encouraged.

Three Cellars (N72 W13400 Lund Ln.) is inviting Third Space Brewing to take over some of the taps at 5 p.m. Try Nexus of the Universe Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout and a few more standouts from the guys in the Menomonee Valley.

Holiday Rarities Bierklasse at Café Hollander (2608 N. Downer Ave.) highlights rare winter brews. The cost is $45 and the sipping starts at 7 p.m. Check out the beer menu and get tickets before they sell out.

Lakefront Brewery vintage night at North 48 (W62 N599 Washington Ave., Cedarburg) means that there will be some harder to find beers available. The beer list includes 2016 Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale, 2016 Barrel-Aged Winter Spice and 2017 Barrel-Aged Cherry Lager. The fun starts at 5 p.m.

Try samples from Dogfish Head at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 3 to 6 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 21

Why not celebrate the winter solstice? ABV Social (11200 W. Burleigh St.) is in a big way. The 2nd Annual Longest Night features some serious dark brews including Perennial Abraxas, Surly Darkness and this little beer known as CBS. That’s right, if you haven’t tried Founders CBS yet, it’s on the list too. The big beers start pouring at 6 p.m.

If you miss CBS at ABV Social, you can get some at Draft & Vessel (4417 N. Oakland Ave.) at 8 p.m. It’s just one of a few barrel-aged beers from Founders being tapped that night on a timed schedule. It starts with Backwoods Bastard Scotch Ale at 5 p.m.

Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) hands out samples from One Barrel from 3 to 6 p.m. and Untitled Art from 4 to 7 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 22

Holiday Rarities Bierklasse makes a stop at Café Centraal (2306 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) at 7 p.m. Tickets are $45.

Good City Brewing brings samples to Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 3 to 6 p.m.

Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) offers samples from Deschutes from 3 to 6 p.m. and Bofferding from 5 to 7 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 23

Christmas beers are the subjects of the weekly free tasting at both Three Cellars locations (7228 S. 27th St. and N72 W13400 Lund Lane, Menomonee Falls) from 1 to 4 p.m.
